DiningStars – A Prestige Card Program supports the collaborative, global efforts of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and The Shalom Foundation. The two organizations began working together in 2005 to improve the lives of children in Guatemala by providing health care services and educating the community on how to better care for themselves. DiningStars raises funds needed to support this ongoing mission of improving the lives of hundreds of children each year. All funds donated through card sales will help provide modern medical facilities, life-changing surgeries, direct medical care, daily nutrition for chronically malnourished children and basic education.
DiningStars brings together the true “stars” in the restaurant community – the restaurant owners, the talented chefs, beautiful, unique venues -- and this special initiative to serve children living without. There are countless children living in poverty and illness in the world. The Shalom Foundation and the Children’s Hospital made a commitment to begin changing lives of children in developing countries by helping children in Guatemala, Central America.
Children’s lives are not the only ones that are changed. Doctors, nurses, surgeons, administrators and business leaders who participate on surgical missions are changed as well.
